A massive three weeks around the Northern end of the South Island.  On mountain bikes and towing trailers - we covered the Marlborough Region, Queen Charlotte trail, Nelson and The Rainbow Road.  After stopping at Hanmer, we shot over to Greymouth, and then back through Arthurs Pass to Christchurch - via Lake Coleridge.  A magic "holiday".

Arriving at Christchurch - the really cool Bike Assembly Area. And best of all, you can overnight here and nobody complains.

Out the front of Cloudy Bay, and in the rain.

The tools of the trade - Bob and bike x 2

Perfect place for some wine.

At last - it's stopped raining!

Pitching the tent - in the rain. Only the second night.

Tentative early, the bomb later!

Riding to St. Arnaud - a brief patch with no rain.

After a long ride uphill, into the wind in pouring rain, it was nice to get a sunny day.

The Rainbow Road. Not a soul around - for two days. Perfect weather - brilliant!

Island Saddle - the highest point on the Rainbow Road... and Nic hammered from here to Hanmer Springs.

At last - Hanmer Springs - Nic relaxing in Thermal Spas.

Quite literally a 30 second stop as it was bloody cold and snowing.

After riding through the snow, we descended 6km. To relax in a 39 degree pool that we didn't know existed. Perfect!

Last saddle before Greymouth. Otherwise, it was downhill / flat for two days!

Descending from Arthurs Pass. A magnificent day after a massive storm.

Riding downhill for awhile always gives a smile

After two hours of down and flat, a few pinches arrived.

After an epic journey the day before and a dodgy camp - Nic and Pete overlooking Rakaia Gorge. Superb.

Pete exhausted - but what a place for a nap

Pete didn't know what was going on. With the warm sun, and some long miles - we were almost at Christchurch now and the end of the trip.

Packed and leaving. Happy to have done it... sad to leave. At Nics feet is our bed for our last night before the early morning flight out.
